My Revolution
Fear and frustration are just a few reasons we often hide how we feel, what we think and who we truly are or want to be in life. This book of poetry lends a voice to those who may not have the words to express and ultimately process these feelings. It provides a shoulder to those who may not yet have the strength to rely on determination or embrace hope. It is the poetic manifestation of how one young man grew into the person he wanted to be and achieved his personal revolution.
About the Book
My Revolution: Volume I by Derek Hammond is a collection of original poems that tell the story of his journey to become the person he always wanted to be, rather than what the world expected him to be. This decision to embrace his true calling was the toughest and most important choice he ever made. This first volume shares the early stages of his journey. The poems are divided into five chapters, each focused on a key philosophy that was essential to him becoming the positive person he is today. The poems represent things he has learned or experienced and embody his wish to pass along the knowledge he gathered over the years. These poems were created to inspire those in need of motivation and to offer solace and hope where doubt lingers. If the world is lucky, they may even provide the foundation for someone else's positive personal revolution.
Excerpts from the Book
-
“You are the doubt that fills my mind, the world I knew forever that suddenly must be redefined. The self-confidence that tells me I can, the woman that makes me feel like a man. The voice in the morning that motivates me to rise, the beauty beheld by my eyes.”
-
“You owe me a life and cannot make amends. So with the same authority used by you, I order the peace in your life to an end. Your sin forever unforgiven.”
-
“One moment of clarity, my fears reconciled. One day I’ll know peace, tomorrow or not for a while. But as if allowed to rest after being forced to walk for miles, there in the still of the dark, Hope is why I smile.”
